Victorious Meet & Greet

Up close and personal.

Meet & greet was a core feature of the Victorious app. The Live team’s mission was to create a flexible, multi-purpose live events arena for content creators to connect with their biggest superfans.

My role was to lead the design and launch of the meet & greet experience. This included initial concepting, user journeys and flows, wireframes to final visual design, and rapid prototyping and testing. The primary goal of this feature was to continue with our mission to increase the value of our live experience by focusing on what superfans value the most: access and recognition. Access to creators and recognition from the creator and their peers for being a superfan. Meet & greets, photo ops, and signing are a proven, time-tested strategy for creators of all types to create these 1:1 connections with their fans. As a result, we extended this popular in person meet & greet format to an appropriate digital format using our existing livestreaming capabilities.

Journey mapping

Since there were so many moving parts to this experience, it was important that we created a journey map of the experience based on our research to identify key interactions, user emotions and motivations along the journey. This became a critical tool align the organization on what the user experience needed to be. It helped identify business opportunities which ultimately differentiated the experience from its competitors.

Creator experience

Since this was a live event, a lot of questions came up around moderation. Taking inspiration and knowledge from our research and attending many real live meet & greet events, we learned that what made these events seamless were the team of people behind the event. There were ushers and security moving things along, allowing for things to run smoothly. When applying this to a digital format, we focused on how we could provide helpful hints and interactions along the way to help move things along but still allowing the creator to have control of the experience.

Building fan anticipation

When thinking about the fan experience, we wanted to build on the excitement on has leading up to an event. We designed an into experience that not only helps build anticipation for the meet & greet event, but also created awareness and managed expectations up front.

The main event

This prototype shows the countdown before the event starts and the main view for the meet and greet experience. The event is public, and anyone in the app can join, even if they are not scheduled for a meet. Both the creator and the selected fans are in the spotlight on stage. Fans that tune in can chat amongst each other and engage with the content while they wait to be selected.

Fan recognition

Fans care most about being recognized by the creator. The design was intended to make fans feel special by giving them their minute of fame but also allow them to connect with the creator 1:1.

Social

collateral

The design of the 1:1 meet needed to feel like a private and intimate setting where there were limited distractions, so the fan felt special and recognized. Through research and testing, we learned that fans really value photos and other social media collateral that can be shared out to friends. At the end of each 1:1 meet each fan takes away a snapshot of their experience that they can share out with their friends.
